"My interest in mosaics started growing in 2003,
when I designed my first piece.

Since then, I'm really fascinated by mosaics with all
their facets. That's why I see them in everything,
even in paved streets or in tiled floors.

In 2004 I broadened my theoretical knowledge, which
I acquired through different sources and which
I summarized in a so called "Besondere Lernleistung"
(some kind of written paper, which was part of my final
school exam. Parts of the original German version under
www.mosaikwerkstatt.de).

In the same year I tought a group of students at my
school about some techniques in connection
with a weeklong schoolproject. Different projects
and workshops were following 2006 until 2008
(pictures in my gallery).

In order to learn more about the historical development of mosaic art,
it is for sure helpful to get a wider field of vision and to get
some new ideas for your own practical work. But still, frequent
experimenting and playing with material, color and subject, are
indispensable to a wide understanding. However, this is the most exciting
about mosaics: They have such a versatility that you, after just having
finished a piece, can't wait to start a new project.

There is so much to discover!
That's what I also learned during the
workshops I participated in at the IMA in summer 2005
and in spring 2009 (more about this in my gallery).

I wish everybody who is interested in mosaics,
a handful of creativity, passion and curiosity."
